Clap Thanks for the code - it's rather speedy and I'm testing.....

Can anyone explain the below please (and using Firefox is not the answer LOL)?

I get this in WW forums too - I have to refresh the page a few times and then I can post.

It only seems to happen if I've enabled the WYSIWYG post editor so it looks RTE related...  Perhaps a java script problem or something I think?? I've downloaded the RTEv3 source as a test and put that in IIS and that's running fine so it's only happening in the v8 alpha code.....

Thanks.....

This isn't much to go on.

IE is very buggy anyway (horible software) and every minor versions comes with it's own set of new bugs.

Can you try and enable it so that if it is a Javascript error it givs some type of error so that the problem can be traced.

Yep - not too much info - sorry......
I've just enabled the debuging however I'm no Java wiz!!
Error seems to be in RTE_javascript.asp at line 129 (as below)......
It's a Microsoft jScript runtime error and the only info is the above message "Object required".....

128 //get present onsubmit events
129 *  if (typeof textArea.form.onsubmit == 'function'){
130  textArea.form.originalOnSubmit = [];
131  textArea.form.originalOnSubmit.push(textArea.form.onsubmit);
132 }
Thanks Bo....

It looks to me that the javascript file is failing to load for some reason.

You are not running this on a free web host are you?

I'm on my own win2k3 server - no hosts and no application sharing!!
My dev is iis on XP (local machine) and the problem is there to.
I also get the problem trying to post here!!
I'm thinking it might be my local machine somewhere but if so I don't know where and it would be interesting to hear if others have seen the problem??
Big smile

Even more strange....  I've just changed 'if' to 'If' and the problem seems to have gone away (now another if statement is causing the issue)????  It's not normally case sensitive is it???

It sounds like the attached javascrupt file is either failing to load or loading after the main page is loaded thus giving a Object Required error, beceuase the related javascript, for what ever reason does not exist.

Could you try enabling and displaing firwalls, and AV software to see if that makes a diffrence, I then maybe able to replicate this error.

BoRg,
Thanks for your help and I've found the problem - not a nice one this....
I'm running
McAfee VS 8.0.0
Definitions 4672/4673 (different machines)
Scan Engine 4400
Patch Version 11
It seems that if I disable ScriptScan in the On Access Scan app the problem goes away.....
My best guess is that McAfee is scanning the script and it's only allowing correctly formed case sensitive scripts......  Hence 'if' fails and 'If' works....
I'll convert the code to the correct case and let you know more when I do....
I'll also inform McAfee directly because this is much more of an issue for me with other scripting environments I work in!!

Thanks Wink

Another thought, although as I don't have the software I am unable to tell for sure, is that the On Access Scan maybe delaying the loading of the javascript file, just long enough that the javascript function fails to initialise.
