Hi,

After shifiting servers three times and having other forum software pulled from under my feet by web hosts (community server) I'm sticking with Web Wiz.

However I'm running into an increasingly frustrating problem that is preventing (many if not all) users from posting.

Having signed in they attempt to post and then get asked to sign in again, consequently loosing their message.

My set up is likely to blame, but I need to know the most effective way of fixing it.

The site is hosted on WebFusion 'Pro'

I have two domain names, one is linked directly to the website, the other is linked via Framed web-forwarding. unfortunatley the domain linked by framed web forwarding is the one now most frequently used for viewing the forum.

I assume that this is messing with the sign ins'.

I despirately need help getting this resolved. I'm somewhat out of my depth here, but should be able to administer the dommains comforably via 123-reg.co.uk, if i know what i should be doing.

If alternatively I need to change permissions on files in the forum i'll have to contact the admins, as I'm unable to do this manually.

What am i doing wrong.

www.ch3rry.co.uk/forum/ (actual domain name)

Frames and forwarding course no end of issues with tracking users as browser find this difficult to handle.

Your web hosting account should allow you to setup the alternative domain name as an alias to your main domain name, this way both domains point to the same site. You then don't need to use forwarding as you can update the Name Servers for the second domain to those of the web server.

I'm just checking that this is the same thing as the alias you mention. If so it seems as though i'll have to pay for the privellege of two domain names correctly working on one site... is this right!?

I'm toying with the idea of swaping the domains round, but i'm concerned that this will again cause no end of trouble.
 
Incidentally the domains are handled by www.123-reg.co.uk a 'sister company.
 
I'm upset about this, I did not realise I was asking so much of my host!

Domain mapping allows a single version of a website to exist but with more than one domain name used as a web address for that site, for example domain mapping allows you to point www.domain.com to www.domain1.com. Please note domain mapping is not the same as web forwarding. With web forwarding a domain is forwarded from one place to another, with domain mapping both domains are fully configured to respond to the same shared hosting space.

You can only map to the same space as your main domain (e.g. www.yourdomain.co.uk); unfortunately mapping to a sub directory (e.g. intranet.yourdomain.co.uk) is not currently supported in shared hosting accounts. You can however use the web forwarding service within your 123-reg control panel to forward a domain to a sub directory on your account. The domain which is to be mapped will need to be in the 123-reg control panel and the name servers pointing to ns.webfusion.co.uk and ns2webfusion.co.uk

The domain mapping service is found through the MyServerWorld Upgrade centre and is currently priced at £25 per year + VAT

Yes domain mapping looks to be the same as a domain  alias
