Hi Borg!

I'm just wondering why WWF doesn't have it's own bug traxking system were users could submit problems?

That would certainly reduce the amount of questions here at the mainboard. =)

Web Wiz Forums is well tested, so there are very few bugs to ever track so it's not really a major problem.

It's probably useful during the beta phases, but then usually a forum is created for reporting any bugs in during the beta process.

Okey, but it seems to me like many of the topics posted in here are topics about specific errors, bugs, issues etc.
 
I read almost all topics posted in here every day, and to me it seems like you spend  quite some time telling people they need to use the search function as "this and this" topic has been covered well before.
 
Why not make a new twist to the post function.. something like this:
 
When a user post a new topic, they will first be redirected to a new page, showing the 5 topmost topics that seems to be relevant to the users question. If they then still feel they haven't found what their looking for, they could press the submit button on that page, and the post will then be sumbitted.
 
Doesn't that sound like a good idea?

There are plans to rebuild the site, and when this happens a searchable knowledge base will also be added, on web design, coding etc. One of teh knowledge bases will also be for Web Wiz Forums which will be added to regualy with tips, tricks, common problems, etc.

Woohoo i can't wait for that.

I think it would cut down on the repeat posts on this site, maybe for the time being -boRg- you could create a sticky topic that contained links to posts that contain the main problems and their solutions?

Just a suggestion to help balance your workload, i'd even be happy to put this together and ad to it over time.

To be honest since version 8 with it's improved search engine there aren't that many repeat posts, I only seem to be asking people to do a search once or twice a week, and not everyday like it was this time last year and those people who do ask repeat questions would probably be to lazy to search through a knowledge base anyway.

Infact I just did a search myself and the last time I asked someone to do a search on something that has been covered before was 7 days ago!!!

Thats certainly and improvement over this time last year, and only goes to show how much better the search function is Big%20smile
