Hi, I got a SQL server 2000, also I have a asp forum still version 6.0 (we want to approach this problem to updated to 7.0), three days ago my forum just dissapear after a lot of time of  really stable use.  We need to know what can we do as a hosters cuz  we have mostly a http 500 server error and the button line is that nobody can see the forum anymore, not even us of course.  We have a back up and also the new version downloaded, but we want to fix the problem first and then think in upgrade it....Anybody with experience in SQL server 2000 or any idea about whas't happening to us ?.  Thanks !.

I just tried to upgrade from 6.34 to 7.1 and after doing so, just got http 500 errors also.  I have to go back to the previous verison also.

I tried to use my old database and also created a new one but could not even get the msSQL_server_setup.asp to run without getting http 500 errors.

Yes but we didn't even do anything and the forum went out, we don't know why. We wasn't trying to upgraded or anything, just doesn't come up anymore.

Do you have any idea about what we should do in the server to see at least our old version as it was before ? Im not even concern about the new version at that point of disguss, I just want to see my forum the way it was before.  My is an SQL server 2000. Thanks.

I made a backup copy of the /forum directory before I did the upgrade and just copied it back over the new version to put it back to the old version.  If you have the old version backed up, you can do the same.  Of course, not sure whether you used your old db for the new version or not but, hopefully, the old versions db is still in place.

Yes but it looks like we have a problem with the asp pages, all the pages in our server are ok, but it was the forum the one that blow out !. Tryme like newbie, what should we do inside the server ir order to publish the forum again the way it was, we no longer have with us the admin guy who instaled the forum for the first time and of course, we most fix that problem now with out his help.  Later I'll take care about the upgrade and everything, but at least we want to publish the forum again. Man I'll be really appreciate if you can helpme cuz this problem is draving me crazy.

Aquire the version you had before and install it using the old sql config file parameters for database, userid and password etc.  Hopefully, your old db is still in place otherwise, a new db will need to be created and the tables installed.  It will reuqire a server admin using SQL Server Manager to create the blank db on the server.

If you can't do all of that, then suggest you install the old version using MS-Access DB which you can ftp up to your server.  But, you still may require the server admin to grant the proper permissions on the db.

I understand, that was the same thing that mine did when i installed the v7 upgrade for MS-SQL Server.  I had to copy my old /forum files back over the new versions folder and my old forum started working again.  If you did not back up your old forum directory, then your out of luck and will most likely have to start from scratch and build a nother new forum using the previous version you were using.  If you did not install the previous version, then would suggest you try and get in contact with whoever did and see if they can help.

There is a lot involved with setting up an MS-SQL Forum:

Create Database
Modify Database Settings
Create DataBase Userid/password
Update the Forums MSSQL Server config file to include the SQL Server connection strings.

If you do not have access to the server to run the MS SQL Server manager, then you will have to use the MS-Access Version and follow the Installation Instructions that come with the Forum Package you downloaded.
