Hi, I have purchased a licensed copy of Web wiz, and I have a few questions at the moment.
1. Can I test my licensed copy of webwiz on another domain name?
I have installed and registered web wiz on my site, which we will call www.oldhostdomain-X.com. It's running on Access db. However, I'm planning to migrate my site over to another webhosts service. Before I do, I want to test my forum on the new service (and upsize the db to SQL server in the process) on another of my web domains at, say www.newhostsdomain-Y.com which is with the new host already. Once that is in working order, I'm planning to move my www.oldhostdomain-X.com domain over to the new webhost service and putting the forum back on there.
So if I place my webwiz forum over there to test, having already registered it at www.oldhostdomain-X.com, will I run into any problems? Will it report to webwiz that I'm trying to use a licensed copy of webwiz on another domain and should I expect the feds kicking down my door at 2am ? :(
2. Can two shared forums show different categories?
I have searched about multiple forums with one database here, but none answer my specific question.
So, eventually I want to have two forums sharing one database. That is, one forum will be from forum1.domain.com and the other will be forum2.domain.com. They will point to the same forum database and I'm hoping they will share the same memberlist (one person could use the same login details for both forums).
What I want to know is that can the forum categories shown in one forum be totally different to the categories shown in the other forum??
3. asp.net 2 / non-component upload solution, pleaz? :(
My new webhosts are pretty good (Lunarpages), but they don't have any upload components installed on their Windows servers :( They have asp.net 2 installed, so I think they're hoping people will use the .net way for things like file uploading, image thumbnails, email etc
This means some of the important functionality I need from Webwiz will be unavailable. Can you please add me to the list of people begging for a non-component method for file uploads? :( An asp.net upload option would be awesome :(
I know your reasoning is that most decent webhosts offer upload components, but a simple non-component solution would solve such a problem as mine (and Lunarpages is a very decent webhost :( I think I found them in some top ten list)
