    Posted: 14 February 2007 at 10:55pm
Hello:

I am moving our forum from our old server to a new ISP account.  Our old server is on 7.9, new one is 8.05.  Both are MSSQL.

Per the upgrade instructions, I copied the database over, run the 7->8 upgrade tool (no errors), then uploaded the 8.05 files.  When I try to launch the forums, I get the error:

Microsoft VBScript runtime
error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'saryDateTimeData'

/forum/functions/functions_date_time_format.asp, line 591

I thought something might have gotten corrupted, so I went through the entire process again and got the same result.  I have seen a few other posts mentioning this error, but have not seen a detailed fix.

Any help would be greatly appreciated -- thanks in advance!

This could be down to you running something before the forum was fully setup and so the application variables have been initialised with the incorrect data.

If you have access to the server try recycling the application pool or rebooting the server so that the application variables are cleaned out.

Thanks for the reply --

I don't have access to the server, as this is an ISP account... unfortunately.  I did have the forums setup on this new account previously to test the migration from 7->8 (which worked fine), so then when it came time to go live I deleted everything (database, all forum files) and followed the same upgrade steps and now get the error I mentioned.

Open the file includes/setup_options.asp and give the application variables a new prefix and see if that fixes the problem.

Also once you upgrade your database from version 7.x to version 8.x don't use the upgraded database on version 7 as you may see problems like this.

Thanks --

I changed the Const strAppPrefix to something else, and I get the same result.

I didn't run the upgraded database on v7... the only forum code that's been on the new site is v8.  I just transferred the tables over, ran the upgrade, then uploaded the v8 files.

Thanks again for your help

OK, I got the problem sorted out.

The database was getting corrupted when I transferred it over.  Not sure how, but...

I went through the entire process again, but this time transferred the tables via an older version of my SQL Manager software and it worked OK.

Thanks for your help --
