Hello to all

i'm here for somes simple question

I want to upgrade my personal mysql version of wwforum to official 8.05a mysql version

I know that mysql official version come only with 8.0 version, but in past i made a personal porting on MySQL

I taked Access DB of 7.91 versione and i made a functionally conversion on MySQL tables with no one alteration of tables and field type (exception for  data type) .....the forum run perfectly

What i have to ask is

*) I can see 8.05a version have some tables added respect old version and others tables are deleted....i can see the same thing for somes fields in somes tables that exist again

If i add new tables in 8.05a version to my MySQL DB it could run (i cannot lost data)?
May be a problem that i have not data in this new tables ?
For examples, i can see new tables for POLL....if i add this to my DB , the old polls works fine ?

I will use this way to update my database to offical versione....tell me please if i wrong...

I hope you understand my inperfect englishSleepy

Probably the simplest way is to download the SQL Server 7 to 8 upgrade tool, and then adapt it to upgrade your current mySQL database.

If you can not adapt it, it should give you a good idea of what changes need to be made to the database.

i think is not a big problem, if i upgraded one time from access to mysql myself....

what i need to know is what appen if in some tables i have no data..for example in POLL tables....the old poll will run again or may i have problems ?

I will try in local how it run....
i'll add new tables and delete the not needed tables i hope don't find many problems, so i'll be in line with official version and  after i'll buy a forum license and stop to problems

Thanks to your answer

hello again

i started the conversion of my personal version of MySQL wwforum to Official version 8.05a...my personal version respect structural DB field as was in 7.91 version.

I have some question for complete conversion...

I see the major structural change in database are in tblTopic table....some filed was added, as "Start_thread_id" , "Last_Thread_id" and "Icon", and some others was changed, as filed date which became "Event_Date"

In previus version this field does not exist, so after added to my DB, i made an ASP script which insert in this fileds the correct data

No problem for "Start_thread_id" , "Last_Thread_id" , but i have problem to understand "Icon" and "Event_Date", which are new and i don't know which type of data need

Have "Event_date" contain  the old "Start_date" or "Last_visit" data (or similar)?

What i have to insert in "Icon" field ? Which type of value ?

Exist some script which do this automatically ?

Why i i cannot access to room ? I have an icon with STOP image...and i don't understand how change it

...and the last commercial question...

Buing license can i delete the Google ADV ?

Thank you for your answer
