Every time I try the 'test email settings' I get a browser window pop up with

Microsoft VBScript compilation error '800a0400'

Expected statement

/forums/admin_email_test.asp, line 131

in it

any ideas?

Yes this is a known bug and will be fixed for the final release.

Great support, so far I'm very impressed with this Forum and plan to move away from using Snitz, which now looks old fashioned by comparison.
