    Posted: 05 May 2003 at 10:28pm

Ok.  Uploaded the new V7.0 of the Forum to a PAID Brinkster site.  Now I have a problem.  When I upload some of the files, I get the following error message:

Brinkster File Uploader

Finishing File Upload Process...
Uploading File 1...upload_files.asp
--> Scanning File ...Error : Server.ScriptTimeout set too high.

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01a8'

Object required: ''

/FileManagerUploadFiles.asp, line 92

I got online with a Brinkster rep and he said this has something to do with some code that sets the script timeout to over 90 seconds.  Is there a fix for this???  Or what is the code that has this and I can just go in and modify it.  FYI, the 3 files that are giving me the problem (SO FAR!!!!!) are upload_files.asp, upload_images.asp, and delete_category.asp.  This is about as far as I got....if this continues to be quirky, I'm gonna just abandon the whole thing....

Help!!!  And thanks in advance!

Hi!
Try to set the Server.ScriptTimeout to a lower level...

Sorry....VERY new here.

Is that somewhere in MY coding???  I spoke with a Brinkster rep and he said that that is not adjustable....well, I'm sure it is, but they won't set it to anything else.

Change the timeout-settings in each file with too high timeout-limit. Change for example line 56 in upload_files.asp from

Server.ScriptTimeout =  1000

to:

Server.ScriptTimeout =  90

to get your forum compatible with brinkter!

Although the problem with doing this is if someone is on a slower 56K connection and it takes longer than 90 secounds to upload a file or image they will get an error and won't be able to upload.

I would recommend moving away from Brinkster to another hosting company.
