    Posted: 05 May 2003 at 11:18pm

Hi,

I want to add a function to the mailing list manager to link through a file that counts clicks. For example, when someone clicks on the link button it pops up with the Javascript prompt with http:// highlighted, and then they enter their address (i.e. www.webwiz.net) to come out with the link http://www.webwiz.net in the actual email.

I want to know how to link it to http://www.webwiz.net/clicks.asp?url=http://www.webwiz.net

Basically, I want the email program to automatically add in the http://www.webwiz.net/clicks.asp?url= part. I can get it to do it in the standard HTML editor through Javascript, but don't know much about using IFrames.

Please help me!!

give this link a look:

http://www.cfdev.com/code_samples/code.cfm/CodeID/36/
JavaScript/Java_Script_Popup_Window

it shows you how to open up a new window using javascript. Good luck.

Thanks Paul, the main problem I have is with the

execCommand('CreateLink')

portion of the code. It opens a generic IE Java window to enter the URL into, but will not allow me to use any sort of prefix... it's fairly frustrating!

Ive put a little mod together for you, it consists of two pages advanced_mail_form_inc.asp (Modified so hyperlink button opens up  new window (wysiwyg only) and Insert_link.asp (the page that pastes the html in to the form ,  You will need to edit a variable in Insert_link.asp called CounterURL to whatever page your counter is.

Hope its what your after.

Hey Tyson,

Thanks heaps - you're a legend mate! I had pretty much given up on it - let me know if there's ever anything I can help you with (probably not though considering you managed to work this out) - I am a designer by trade so I would be more than happy to do some design work for you if you want - just pm me. Thanks again.
