Topic: Live Support Posted: 27 October 2008 at 11:00am |
Hi All,
I need one live support chat system for my website.
Is there any free chat system. If not, then is there any chat system, which charge only one time payment and not monthly or yearly.
I want to chat with the visitors who visit my website. My website is in ASP
Thanks.

Hi gupta_ji, I'ven been on the hunt for a live support implementation as well; actually on the behalf of some of my customers who host with me.
For the research I've done so far I've found that you'll need to use your own Internet Servers if you want to just pay once for the live support software. That means your responsible for hosting, server, bandwidth, monitoring, etc. The cost usually runs in the hundreds-of-dollars for the one-time fee.
The monthly fee subscriptions are usually for the services that take care of all the infrastructure; thus all you need to do is enter additional HTML/Javascript coding on your webpages to implement the live chat/support capability with your existing hosted website.
For a free live support service, the features are limited, and those services place their banners/links on the chat windows (shown to your visitors). If not a big deal then that may be the path for you. If you want just ability to do live chat, you may be able to find free coding for ASP/PHP platforms - search google or yahoo for "asp live chat" or "php live chat". I'll see if I can locate one such provider I thought offered this product.
Good luck; let me know what you find as well...
Dave

You could try a Java Chat Applet http://www.chatapplet.net/
Apparently it is FREE but I cannot vouch for how well it works

Hi,
Thanks for your responses.
I just need the chat to be on my server only. As there are no so many visits on my website, but its required for my prospective customers, the visits are small but they are valuable for me.
To clarify, I need a chatroom, like if you visit my website, and you are not clear on any point and want to chat with me, then you will click on live support and I will answer you on any of your query. If somebody put ads on client screen that is not much problem to me. Its only few customers and want to clarify any doubt with me. I donot want any public chat room type of facility. I hope I clear what I need. I would be thankful if you can give me any asp live support which is free. I donot want to pay monthly subscription as the visits are very less.
Regards

The software we use for this type of thing is SmarterTrack, but it is not cheap.
However all SmarterTools software has proven to be very robust with excellent customer support.

You can get a FREE version of this software too with no limitations apart from the fact it is a one to one live support, but for free

I am in the same list as Gupta ji, looking for a good free live chat option for my website. The fantastico panel offers the Crafty Syntax Live Help and Help Center Live. How are these in your opinion ? Are there any security issues which make them prone to hacking ?
