How Can I Make a Login & Members Only Pages?

So I started out using the code on this page http://www.webwiz.net/kb/asp_tutorials/connecting_to_a_database.asp
 
I created the guestbook, customized it to how I needed and wanted it. Now I want to create a login page and make it so that only logged in users can post and edit entries.
 
Is this very difficult to do? Can anyone provide me with some source code or a good link, preferably both?

I wasn't able to get that to work for me. I've also looked at many other examples I've found on line and haven't gotten anything workable out of any of those, either. I think I need someone to hold my hand and walk me through this.
Any one interested in helping?
