Hi,

I want to downgrade a particular member from admin group to a lower group. I select the forum member administration and then find the member. When I click on the member's name I get sent to the register new user screen and not the modify member screen - any ideas what's going on?

Note that this only happens if I am trying to downgrade someone from administrators group - is this the problem? Admins cannot be downgraded?

If there is a database hack needed to make this happen - I am ok with that......I know how to do this...sql and all that.

Providing you have admin rights (which I assume you do are in the admin area) then look down the left hand side on the links and see Membership Admin

Choose the member by clicking on their name and it should take you to Update Member
Now it is possible - web wiz says this on the control panel:
The Admin Group, (the first group in the list), cannot be deleted. Any member placed in this user group has admin powers over the whole board and can also use this admin area, so be careful of the users you place in this group! For security it is recomended you only ever have 1 member in this Group

It is possible that the member you are trying to "downgrade" may have already downgraded your permissions to prevent you doing this, as I'm pretty certain there is not a hack that is required

Also, just thinking about this too, if you set individual permissions on a profile these would override any settings chosen normally

There is a built in super admin account that is hardcoded to always be an admin account. This admin account can not be changed from an admin account.

If you attempt to change this super admin account in the database you would course issues within the forum system.

The account with Author_ID 1 in the database is the built in super admin account and is hardcoded within the forum system to always be an admin no matter what it says in the database.

This account should not be tempered with or removed or you will find many parts of your forum will no-longer run.

If you are the Admin of the forum this is the account you should use to administer the forums.
