Hi all,
 
I'm currently trying to upgrade our existing forum version 9.54 to 9.73 on a new Win2008R2/IIS7 server with a SQL2008R2 DB.
 
In the upgrade database tool I'm selecting all the correct options and can successfully connect to the restored database and get the screen below -

But then clicking on the Forum Homepage link I get -
 
Server Error in Forum Application
An error initialising Global Variables from database.
Please contact the forum administrator.
 
Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_getForumConfigurationData()_read_global_variables
File Name:- global_variables_inc.asp
 
Error details:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Invalid column name 'ID'.
 
Any ideas? I've tried this a few times now and followed a few answers people have had on here already regarding app pool/folder permissions but to no avail,

There are no database changes between 9.54 and 9.73, the upgrade tool only writes the connection string and does not make any changes to the database.

The error means that the ID field is not found in the tblConfiguration table. This field was added in version 8.

The fact that you are getting this error suggests to me that the database you are using is a version 7.x database or you are connecting to the wrong database which does not contain the tables for Web Wiz Forums version 9.x

I am using this old version  http://forumssolution.com/ - http://forumssolution.com
I would like to update to version 10.3, after the upgrade, it showed me everything was successfully done.
It gave me a default administrator account, but when I went to the home page  http://forumssolution.comew/default.asp - http://forumssolution.com/new/default.asp, I received this error message below
Server Error in Forum Application
An error initialising Global Variables from database.
Please contact the Forum Administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_Access_getForumConfigurationData()_read_global_variables
File Name:- global_variables_inc.asp
Forum Version:- 10.03

Error details:-
Microsoft JET Database Engine
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot find the input table or query 'tblSetupOptions'. Make sure it exists and that its name is spelled correctly.

Can you help me please fix that problem?

The forum is trying to connect to an access database that does not have the table required for version 10.

Make sure you have upgraded the correct database.

In future please create a new topic as your question has nothing to do with the topic created by modern.gov
