I installed SQL Server Management Studio. I run the "SQL Server Management Studio" and do not know how to connect to the database. I look within my network and the database is not in my network.

Could anyone help me connect to the SQL database?

Thanks,

If you are connecting to a remote SQL Server you need to contact the server admin to ask for the host name and user login to the SQL Server.

Thanks, but the server administrator can not give me this information because it would give me access to all your databases.

Sorry maybe my last post was not clear.

If you are using a shared database server you would have an SQL Server login that has access only to your own database and not all the databases on the same server.

You would connect to the database server using your login that is granted access to your own database.

For example for customers who have SQL Server Databases on our shared hosting would connect with SQL Server Studio Manager using the database server host name of the database server their database is on and the username and password of their database they wish to connect to. They would then have access only to their own database and not to any of the other databases on the same server.

You need to contact your database server provider and ask them for this information to connect to your forum.

If you find out I would suggest keeping it private and not posting it in a public forum.
