Instead of (or along with) sending an email to someone as soon as their thread has been replied to, wouldn't it be cool if you could choose "instant message me" when thread has been replied to?  Wouldn't there be a way to incorporate AIM, MSN, IRC, IRQ, Y! or any other IM programs into the forum?  As long as those IMing programs are installed and running on the server...couldn't that be possible?

that wouldnt be possible without some kind of component installed, and i dont think there is a component for that.
