Forum Ver 6.3 to 7.7 SQL to SQL

I apologize if this is a dup, but I looked and didn't see specifics on this topic. 

I've seen the download for the access to sql migration tool however I would be upgrading version 6.3x to version 7.7 using SQL for both. 

Do you have a way to update the db and related sp without loosing the previous posts or am I looking at a whole new install?

You would have to manually update the db using the version history or get a tool (usually pretty expensive i.e. Erwin) to compare-update them.

Based on RI has db structure changed to such an extent that it would be difficult to back up 6.3 db and and do a new load 7.7 sql db then pipe the data back in?   Or has the RI with new tables pretty much made it not compatiable.....
