I'm using 7.7a on a Win2K server.  I get the error below when various users send a PM or try to read one in their Inbox.

Microsoft VBScript runtime (0x800A0046)

/forum/functions/functions_send_mail.asp, line 183

Even though there is this error, the PM is actually sent!  I am aware that the PM in the recipient's Inbox and the sender's Outbox are essentially the same one.  I'm mentioning this because the error does not occur when reading the PM in the Outbox.

Is this a bug in version 7.7a?  TIA.

the pm is sent, but the mail isn't. You have to setup a different email component, or find a different outgoing smtp server.

if there is no email component available you should disable the mail function of the forum.

I'm running Exchange 2000 so the email component does work because email notification and email activation of registration both work; although, i have turned off the latter at the present time.

The error is coursed by the file that is trying to send an email to let the sender of the PM know you have read the PM.

Either your email settings are incorrect, or you have a corrupted file somewhere.

Try reuploading files again. If that doesn't work try another email component, like CDOSYS which is CDONTS replacement and is built into the OS on Win2k and above.
