    Posted: 15 February 2004 at 6:21pm

I used a version from 6/8/01 and the first post in my database is dated 1/30/02 and the db file's called forum4096.mdb - can anyone tell me what version I am running? I have searched all files for a version number without success.

Assuming I can discover the version number, is there a way to migrate it all to 7.7a?

Thanks for any clues.

Assumind it is version 4.x it would mean it is a fairly old version. An upgrade process would be very manual intensive, manually moving topics, users etc. I can be done but not without knowledge of programming.

Would there happen to be a list of dates of the versions somewhere?

If you give me a URL link to your forum I should be able to tell what version you are running.

But as this site only opened on the 3rd sep 2001 I guess that the date you gave is incorrect or you are using a forum from a different site as the database was never called forum4096.mdb unless you changed the name yourself. But a link to your forum would clear up this problem.

If it is a version that old, I would like a copy myself as I have lost all the backups I made of the old versions of the forum software.

If you are using the Access version (you didn't say!!) then you just need to replace the files with the latest version keeping your database intact.

If you are using the SQL server version then you need to searh through the forum for upgrade posts that I have posted about what stored procedures need to be changed.

when using the Access version 7.x and you want to upgrade to the newest version, do you need to replace ALL the files? or can I leave the language files untuched?

It all depends what version you are upgrading from, but most upgrades do have changes to the language files that need to be replaced.

If you have translated language files check there are no updates, if not the new parts of the language file are appended to the end so you could use a text editor to copy and paste the new parts across.
