Probably old news to many, but I just got wacked over the head with this.

Apparently, If you download the 120 day free trial for MS SQL Server it comes with an Enterprise Manager install that doesn't expire after 120 days.

The 120 day free trial is at - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=D20 BA6E1-F44C-4781-A6BB-F60E02DC1335&displaylang=en

Thus just because it does not officially expire you are not allowed to used it after the 120 days are up.

There's another online one at http://www.aspenterprisemanager.com/ both require .net and neither can create an empty db but are useful for trouble shooting and working with an existing db.

A lot of people also use the freebie dbamgr2k pc app - also listed as an msde partner app ms - http://www.microsoft.com/sql/msde/partners/default.asp

That's cool then. I'll have to go back to the docs.

BTW, i did find something weird a few weeks ago. If you enter the new DB name and just press enter, some times it will create the database file but not show the database (???) so you have to actually press the Enter button.
