    Posted: 01 September 2008 at 5:31am
Hi I am using forum v9.0.8

I have a few questions about the Calendar functionality (accessible from the top nav where there is "FAQ | Search | Calendar | memberlist" etc).

1) is the calendar functionality available in my current version (v9.0.8 free edition)?

2) is the calendar feature available in both the free and paid editions? What are the differences in functionality (if any)?

3) I noticed on the website that the calendar shows people's birthdays. Can individual users input their own events besides birthdays? (i.e. person A inputs event A, which will only be visible to person A)

4) Can the website admin or forum admin input events (besides birthdays) which can be seen by everyone?

Regards,
Zhen Yang

The Events Calendar is not available in the Free Express Edition. You would need to upgrade to the Premium Edition.

For comparisons between the editions please see the page below:-

http://www.webwiz.net/webwizforums/webwizforums_compare_editions.asp

In the Premium Edition you can use the permissions system to decide which groups or users have permissions to create event topics in forums. These event topics are given start and end dates and are entered into the events calendar.

ok thanks.

How do I check whether the forums I have installed is the free or premium edition? It was installed some time ago by another person, so I need to double-check.

Is it stored in the script files, or in a database field?

Thanks.

You would need to contact accounts with the URL or your forum. From that we can tell you if a license was purchased for the installation.

You can contact sales and accounts through the following page:-

Ok, I have found out that I am using the premium version.

If I enable the events calendar in the premium version, how do users add or edit Events when browsing the forums? i.e. where is the option to "Add/Edit Events"?

To enable the events, I have tried the following.. is there anything else I need to do?

I login to the admin interface. Under the main Admin menu, I choose "Security settings", then "Set group permissions", then I choose the user group which I want to enable the events calendar. As the screenshot below:

If you have enabled a group or user to post calendar events in a forum then when they create a new Topic they will be given an option to set a start and end date.

If a start and end date are specified for a topic then it will be entered into the events calendar as an event.
