Hi Bruce,

Couple of questions on the Starter Reseller Package:

- I currently have a reseller package with a host in the US, and we can have our own nameservers, which in turn effect what our servers are called.  For example; ns.myhosting.com, mysql.myhosting.com, mssql.myhosting.com, mail.myhosting.com.  Obviously this then looks like I own all the servers, as they're named after my company.  Is this possible with the Web Wiz packages?

- How many extra mySQL databases do you receive for the additional £3.99 per month?  I use mainly PHP and mySQL databases, with the only thing running on MSSQL and ASP is my WWF forum.

Also, I'm liking the StorageVault feature!  Although I didn't spot it at first, so was going to walk away after I saw the 2.5GB, as I do require a bit of space for pure image storage - might be best to move it underneath the Storage Space row.

Cheers!

Oli

Personal Nameservers are available so you can have ns1.yourdomain.com, etc. as well as being able to directly edit DNS zone files to create domains such as mssql.yourdomain.com, mail.yourdomain.com, etc.

We also have generic nameservers and URL's so you can hide who is supplying your services, such as ns1.websitelive.net, etc. and mssql.websitelive.net, mail.websitelive.net, etc.

Extra mySQL databases are available at £3.99 per month database per database.

Many hosts that give you vast amounts of storage space use cheap desktop SATA drives which are not good for performance or reliability. We use SCISI 15,000 RPM harddrives setup using redundant RAID systems which give far better performance and reliability. This arrangement does mean that diskspace costs over 20 times more than SATA drives which is why diskpsace is not as much as some cheaper web hosts.

If you have a look through the features that we offer we try to give a superior, faster, more reliable hosting solutions than many of the cheap packages that you usually find.

Features that you don't usually find with many web hosts that we have as standard include nightly backups, database management tools, isolated application pools, redundant back servers, generators, failover equipment including Internet connections and gateway firewalls, live server monitoring, email anti-spam and virus scanning, etc.

Isolated application pools use allot more resources on the server increasing the price of hosting, however from a customers point of view it means that each of your websites run in their own process isolated from other websites on the same server with their own memory allocation which gives improved performance, reliability and security much nearer what you would find from a dedicated server. The page below gives more details on why isolated application pools are such a vast improvement over the standard arrangement on shared hosting accounts where many sites share the same process:-

You mention hosting allot of PHP websites, we are using FastCGI under Windows Server 2008 for PHP 5.1 which as it is multi-threaded means that according to Microsoft actually gives better performance than PHP running under Linux/Apache. Using FastCGI also gives much better compatibility for PHP than under the older Windows ISAPI filter that is often used when hosting PHP websites on Windows 2003.
