Hi,

We would like to provide the users of our intranet site with ability to build their own queries to underlain database.
Could someone suggest an ASP.NET control which help to solve this task?

I am looking for some user-friendly solution where I could hide all those database issues (tables, links, fields, etc) from end users but show them only the items that I want. For example I would like to hide Customer.CustNo field or show Customer.CityID as "Customer City" with list of available cities when user creates a condition with this field.

Hi,

If you have nothing against ActiveX controls, you may try our SQL query building solution: Active Query Builder. Using it, you won't have to get direct access to the database, but provide all necessary metadata from the XML file. Using Active Query Builder you may assign user-friendly names for your database objects and their fields.

Thank you for your proposition but I should say that your solution does not suit our requirements:

1. It is not pure ASP.NET solution.
2. It is not user-friendly. Or better say: your live demo does not show how friendly it is. In that demo I still need to define the tables which take part in the query - this is one of the things I would like to hide from my users.

Finally we have found exactly what we need: EasyQuery.NET WebForms (thanks go Google).
Here is the description of this library from the vendor's web-site:
"EasyQuery.NET - native .NET components which allow to include user-friendly query builder into your Windows Forms application or ASP.NET web-site."
They have setup demo page at http://www.easyquerydemo.com where you can play with EasyQuery.NET controls to see how they work.
