what does this message mean? I'm trying really hard to put up a forum and I'm having the darndest time.

I just got this error message after downloading the forum files to the
server, and after trying to access
http://www.louisekennedydesign.com/forums/

Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed.

I'm running on a windows 2000 server, with these capabilities, so I know the
issue isn't that I'm running on a unix server, or that it's not asp
supported.

Supported Software

  a.. Microsoft FrontPage 2000, 2002
  b.. ASP
  Supported components: ASPMail
  c.. CGI
  d.. Java script
  e.. Macromedia Flash
  f.. Visual InterDev 6.0
  g.. XML
h.. Add-on option for Real Server

That error means that you don't have a default or index file to look for in the folder, and that the server is set up to not show the other files in that folder (which is very good)

Did you upload all the files? You should have a default.asp in the forum folder, and you don't.

and don't forget to change the files you need to connect with your DB, as described in the documentation

thanks for your response. I created a folder called "Forums" in my site, and then downloaded all the webforum files into it. Then I uploaded the folder with the files to the server. All the files are there as far as I can see. There are two subcategories called Documentation and Forum. In the forum folder there are four other folders (admin, avatars etc)

There is a default.asp in the forum folder.

what does this mean? "and don't forget to change the files you need to connect with your DB, as described in the documentation"  I don't see any reference to connecting with my database in the files that are in documentation.

thank you!!!!

Your problem is that you uploaded the whole forum folder from the zip file into your created forums folder. So going to http://www.louisekennedydesign.com/forums/forum get's you to your forum. Upload the again but this time not the whole dir....  And oh, you still get an error, your db has no write access but that is a different story
