Topic: Web Development work from home? Posted: 08 September 2008 at 4:35am |
Hi! Does anyone know about a reliable site where I can find gigs related to web development? The local studios and companies ask for too much and I feel every time I go there I just waste my time waiting for them to call me or whatever, I want to work, please help!

Online development job sites are generally not worth it. You're competing with a village in India with 1 computer and 30 programmers willing to work really cheap.
I started off doing pro-bono work for non-profits that were members of chamber of conferences. No leads = no sales. Got to do a couple of demos at the CC's in return for the work and things just took off from there. Stayed away from brochure sites and concentrated on how to extend business through the web - e.g. orders, scheduling service calls, etc.
Something to think about is how to sustain a profitable relationship once a site is developed. I included 8 hours of work within the first 3 months of release within the proce of the site. They always want something changed after they use the site for a while. Also offered retainer contracts - e.g. I'll do up to 10 hours of work per year for $500 up front. Usually wound up with more than 10 hours of work at $75/hour for the overage.

Sites like elance, rentacoder, guru.com has plenty of work. If you can provide quality work in reasonable rates, you can get tons of work.

An important
part of developing a successful web development strategy is deciding on how
you're going to make money.Ordinary people are making extraordinary money working from home on the Internet.
And, you have the opportunity to do just that.
If you're looking for a great opportunity to work at home and earn a substantial
income, selecting affiliate programs that pay generous commissions for top
quality products that are in high demand is key. However, locating quality
affiliate programs can be very difficult.
