Topic: Safari (browser not RTE enabled) vs IE PC Posted: 15 December 2004 at 3:45pm |
|
There is an ERROR linking files and Images with SAFARI (and any other not Rich Text Browser enabled)
This is the problem:
1. I uploaded with SAFARI an HTML file:
<a href="my_documentsmy_files/Instruction_3.1.2.htm">Instruc tion_3.1.2.htm</a>
1.a. the link is broken, because it lost a "/" separator
2. I uploaded with SAFARI a GIF:
<img src="my_documentsmy_files/558_1.1.gif" />
2.a. the link is broken because of the missiing "/" separator AND the GIF file is being UPLOADED to the my_files folder instead of MY_PICTURES.
2.b. If I ADD the missing separator "/" editing the record, then I STILL GET an ERROR, because the LINK is www.mydomain.com/my_documents/my_files, BUT I really HAVE THE FOLDER inside 2 other folders:
www.mydomain.com/admin/RTE/my_documents/my_files/ so each file/image is still a BROKEN LINK.
I tried this with IE in a PC, and everything works great, but in my MAC didn´t work using neither SAFARI nor Internet Explorer.
Hope this solved in the next release !

Thanks for pointing out this problem with non RTE browsers, I'll look into a fix for it for the final version.

I believe I have now fixed the problem for the final release using Opera on the PC as this is a non RTE enabled browser.
However, I can not test with Safari as in the UK MACs are not very
common and therefore I do not know anyone with a MAC I can borrow for
test purposes.

It would be today, but I have problems connecting to the MS SQL Server used for the site to update the download links.
The final version is almost the same as the beta 2 version, as I have
started already on a complete re-write for version 3 that will make it
even simpler to implement and also use multiple RTE's in the same page.
I plan on making it so that you can just apply it to an already existing textarea and the content be carried across to the RTE.
This should prevent allot of the problems people are getting when integrating.
I'm sorry to say be the final version doesn't come with the detailed
integration documents I had wanted due to no-one offering any help and
my shortage of time to write them.

Sorry No, it needs to be placed in the system so that the license agreement is agreed to before you download the software.
