    Posted: 20 May 2009 at 6:18pm
I just installed to free version of Web Wiz Forums to test it before recommending it to a client to buy for her site. The application installed so easily and I think the member API thing is going to be just what we need.

Unfortunately, trying to use it hasn't been so complication free. When clicking on a forum to read or post in it, or when when clicking on the New Posts, Un-Answered Topics, or Member List links - and possibly more, but those are the only ones I've checked so far - I get a version of the following error:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while executing SQL query on database.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_get_active_topics
File Name:- active_topics.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
'ROW_NUMBER' is not a recognized function name.

Each of the file names is different, obiously, but it all boils down to 'ROW_NUMBER' is not a recognized function name. How can this be fixed, please? I searched the boards here before posting, but I don't see any previous reference to this.

Thanks.

Never mind! Apparently I didn't search well enough. I just found what I'm looking for in another post.

hi @ all,
found the WebWiz forum software recently, just checking it out on a machine running SQL2K ... and fell into the same trap ...

since this post shows up in search first i thought it might be useful to post the detail:
file \database\database_connection.asp line 135 -> change to Const blnSqlSvrAdvPaging = FALSE

regards, christian

thanks for the warm welcome,
let me say i've been quite surprised to find a forum app written in classic ASP what is still under that level of maintenance.
i wonder why it didn't hit my desk formerly (i.e. several years ago) when i searched and found only Snitz more or less ...
i'm just walking through the files how to best personalize it (without screwing it up regarding further updates) and must say i'm quite impressed, also about the database design.
christian

ps: sorry if the question is already covered (you notice, sometimes i miss the important lines ...) - is there a SVN somewhere?

edit: while trying to upload the avatar (as .png) unhandled exception: Permission denied /functions/functions_upload.asp, line 716 (what seems to differ from the downloaded code .... CreateFolder failed?)
