i would really like to have an auto refresh on the forum - every 10-15 seconds, maybe?

let me know what you think.
Thanks

You could just add a meta tag to do it but I always found forums that auto-refresh to be a pain.
I typically open up a tab or browser instance for each page of the active topics and then work through them by upening up all the topics on a page in their own tabs/windows. Seems like auto refreshes on active topics pages happen before I've read the topic ages and always re-adjust what's on a given active topic page.

My other complaint with auto refresh is that it always happens just as I'm about to click on something so I have to wait for the new page load. Prevents a smooth browsing experience.

I think most of your users know how to refresh a page. You have to be careful when trying to "help" them by forcing a page behavior that conflicts with their browsing preferences.

EDIT: Just occurred to me that you might be thinking of auto refreshing a thread page to catch the latest upates to the thread. Definately not a good idea as no one would ever be able to finish a post.

I have a script but dpyers is correct.

Anyway, you have to put this script in the HEAD section.

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5">

for 5 seconds.
