Hi,

maybe its me, but I can't seem to find any documentation on how to install newspad into my existing WWF?

- does newspad use the same DB as WWF or does it create a new one?
- is the 'newspad' folder placed into the 'forums' folder or on the same level?
- after installation what needs to be set up for newspad and WWF to work together?

regards,
claus

NewsPad is installed as a standalone application into it's own folder. it can use it's own database, or if you do not have many databases from your host it can share a SQL Server or mySQL database with Web Wiz Forums.

Once installed in the online admin area of NewsPad there is a Web Wiz Forums integration page where you put in the connection details of your Web Wiz Forums database, so that NewsPad can connect to the Web Wiz Forums database to be able to send eNewsletters to your Web Wiz Forums Newsletter subscribers.

In Web Wiz Forums on the forum configuration page in the admin area you need to enable NewsPad integration so that your members can subscribe to newsletters in their forum profile. You can also put in the path to your NewsPad installation so that news items can be read in from the RSS Feed and displayed on your forums homepage.

Yes the update will work without loosing data. However, you should always make a backup fo the database first to be on the safe side.

Web Wiz Forums and Web Wiz NewsPad use different table prefixes in the database to ensure that they don't interfere with each other and both can live happly side by side in the same database.

Have a look in the Web Wiz Forums documentation pages on how to do the upgrade. it should be fairly simple as there is an installation wizard which also takes care of the database upgrade.
