im installing SQL server Stabdard edition on Windows 2000 Advanced server and when it asks me to select lisencing mode.. i select the desired mode and get a strange error saying "I/O Opreating in progresss" now why is that and btw what SQL server got to do with I/O.. can ano one explain???

About the error I am not sure, but you are asking what SQL has to do with I/O? Do you know what I/O is? If there was no I/O in SQL Server or any application how would you interact. Btw. I have seen this error in some newsgroup a while ago, never saw a resolution but they where successful installing the Dev. Edition. Thus, as I am sure you purchased it through a re-seller, contact them for support.
