I was just wondering about some people's thoughts about frames. I'm currently in the development stage of my site and i'm wondering if its a good idea to try and use frames for my navagation bar. i think it looks good with frames, should i worry about no frame displaying browsers?

frames are very very very bad. There are allot of reasons and im sure someone will point them out......

You should use includes. They are allot easyer and work the same way, but dont have the down side like frames.

now a times most of the browsers have a capability to support frames. even hotmail's advertizement is also in <iframe> tags.

don't worry if hotmail & yahoon can use iframes then when dont we.

Frames generally are not comfortable to surf the sites with especially if the margin is too big. If used rightly with decent graphics, it doesn't matter then. I think surfing websites with frames will give you a better idea whether to use it for your sites or not.

fraes have their place if used correctly, but have generally been replaced by other methods these days, such as IFrames or CSS.

One of the drawbacks is search engine indexing.

There have been many, many posts made throughout the world...
This was one of them.

Go with the crowd. Forget frames. They are more problems than they are worth. Includes are far superior in every almost everyway.

Before you jump on the <IFRAME> band wagon siting hotmail and yahoo and all the big boys, try surfing one of those sites with a Win95 default installation. Make sure to try their European sites when you do it. If you can, use IE 3 and 4 as well. Most of the systems the big boys use have immense back ends that can deliver HTML 3.2 because they actually care about people who don't upgrade their computers or browsers. Unlike most of us. I'll spare you the blurb on demographics and consumer spending...

Cheers
