sending picture via email

hello,

i have been trying to send a pic from the web by email.

i first cliked on the picture and SaveAs.  it saved as '.bmp' file extension, i could open it in MSPaint, i could clik on the file and drag to Internet Explorer and that opens fine. but when i send the file by email as an attachment.  OR when i copy the picture of the web and paste it in the yahoo message,  the recepient only receives icons that can't open or display any picture.  when i cliked on and drag to IE, i also saved it with extension JPEG.  but again same thing.  just small icons but no picture.  i would appreciate any help.  thankyou in advance

I right clik on the picture on the web site, selected saveAs , gave it a name (with .bmp ext),  the in the yahoo email i selected attachment , and attached that file as i usually do with MS Word files. 

i also did right clik > Copy and pate into the yahoo message, and could see the picture in the message.  but when sent , the receipient doesn't receive them .  they only receive icons which even if you clik on notting happens. 

i see sometimes on the email / websites, similar icons appear , initially , but then get enlarge to full picture.  these dont do that
