    Posted: 03 March 2003 at 10:14am

My web application programmer has written source code that requires the user to set the website to "Trusted Site" before they can get in.

How can the ASP program be changed so that the users no longer have to set this option to "Trusted Site"?

Website is www.bestbid.co.uk

Many thanks

Keith.

How do other websites get over this problem?

Not every user has this problem just some. What is the cause?

Keith.

Is this something to do with security certificates?

This is to do with cookies. Internet Explorer 6 comes with it's security settings set too high by default, and this causes cookies to be blocked.

I imagine that your login application places a cookie on the visitors machine to allow access to your site, and if the cookie cannot be placed, then the visitor cannot get in.
