Guys,

I've run into a problem, heres the scoop,

I use webmatrix and can set up a server with that.  It was working perfectly for the last month but tonight when i try to run any page in the server it redirects to this address -> http://localhost/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fNewUser2.aspx.  And i get an error on screen saying that it cant find the script WebUIVaildation.js.  The page i want to run is just simply NewUser2.apsx but it always happens.  I deleted a file called login.aspx that i found on a site but i dont know how to fix it.

Any ideas?

dont delete directories that you dont know about!!

you nuked the directory that the framework created that holds all its validation javascript....

to resintall the directory.. do a "find" on your c:\windows directory for "aspnet_regiis"

in dos, goto that directory that it found it at.. then type:

aspnet_regiis -c

and that'll reinstall that directory

that is correct.. you cannot run IIS on XP Home...

you must be using the "built in" web server of ASP.NET (that "cassini" thing)

i'd dig around the WebMatrix docs or ask on asp.net's forums in their WebMatrix forum

Hahahaa

I haven't heard one good thing about the home version. I don't know if it is worth upgrading though. I would... but it depends on your situation. Check out to see if you can find a comparison and then evaluate whether the upgrade is worth it.

You might just be better off to find some cheap webspace, but if you need the MSDE, then you might be out of luck. There is a free testing site out there... I forget the address right now though. It lets you use a lot of .NET stuff for free (or minimal cost).
