What happens if the browser can not support the editor? Does the user get a different form with forum tags like the non-rte of the forum or would it be just a simple textarea box with html?

If the browser doesn't support RTE fetaures the user will get a textarea with buttons that place HTML into the textarea.

If Javascript is not enabled then the user will see the original textarea with no buttons.

humm ok cool. Is there a way to see the HTML textarea? Is it simliar to the non-RTE of the forum?

Im very interested in purchasing a developer key to use it in my portal, i just want to make sure it will work for browsers that do not support the RTE functions.

Opera doesn't support RTE features.

Have a look at the demo version in Opera and you will see what non-RTE browsers will have.

It is simular to the forums non-RTE editor, but uses HTML instead of placing square brackets around it [ ] like in the forum, but if you wanted square brackets it should be quite simple to edit the non-RTE JavaScript file to change <> to []

Alright I downloaded and installed Opera so I could test it out, something I noticed in the beta (I don’t know if you know or not, I also tried doing a search first) when you use a function like enter a link the html tag doesn’t actually get added where the cursor is blinking, it puts it directly at the bottom.

Is this a limitation with Opera or a bug?

This is a limitation as it is difficult to get the cursor location.

But then maybe it is something I need to look at again, as I have not changed the Javascript for the non-RTE editor since the first version I did back in 2001
