    Posted: 17 March 2006 at 10:25pm
I have been using WWforum for about 6 months, and now I would like to integrate RTE into a new site. Has anyone written a tutorial on how to use the RTE on an existing site? I can install the app, and I can run the RTE app, but the question I have is how to integrate the app. Honestly, I see the power of the app, but I am not sure how to integrate it.

Like many on this board, I would like to see how to integrate the app into an existing website. For example: I have a website, and I would like to have the OWNER of the website be able to edit, update, and change content on their pages. I assume I can use the RTE to give this control to the owner of the pages.

Could someone please explain how to do that? Do you use the WWforum for login and authentication? Do you use another method? How do you put this RTE to work? Thanks for your honest help.

PS: Thank you Borg for your ASP apps, you seem to be #1

I'm not sure if you are asking about Web Wiz Forums that has an RTE integrated or the standalone RTE.

If you are referring to the standalone Web Wiz RTE it is a seprate application to Web Wiz Forums and can be used on almost any textarea within your site.

The Web Wiz RTE does come with instructions on how to intergrate it into your own site.

The simplest way is to create your own form on your site with a standard textarea and someway to submit it to the server for processing.

Then follow the install instructions supplied with the Web Wiz RTE on how to integrate the RTE into the page to transform the standard textarea into an RTE enabled textarea.

I was referring to the RTE stand alone app and site integration. I understand how to install the app, and it runs fine. I understand how to convert a textarea to RTE. I see where the new textarea data and images are being stored. I am confused on....
  1. Displaying a page with the new results and not displaying the RTE editor. What a normal site visitor would see, just the normal page.
  2. Presenting the RTE textarea only when the site admin or site owner logs in.

I am guessing that you install the WWforum and use that login application, then lock the pages where you want the RTE app for use by the site owner. Once the site owner logs in, then present the RTE pages for site edits and page edits.

A basic tutorial on how to solve item #1 and #2 above would be appreciated. Thank you.

Trying to use the Web Wiz Forums login system to create a new section of your site that only has admin access could be quite difficult and not something handled in a basic tutorial.

The Web Wiz Rich Text Editor has been created as a completely separate software to Web Wiz Forums for use in web masters own HTML textareas.

You would probably find it much simpler creating your own login system for the part of the site you want to use the RTE within.
