I am trying my hardest to learn ASP and setting up a databse for use on my website.  But I canmt get past the first hurdle.

I have downloaded the tutorials etc and read how to get connected to a database. I am using Dreamweaver MX and have set the site up and connected to the DB but when I run the tutorial pages iI get the following error message:
Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]General error Unable to open registry key 'Temporary (volatile) Jet DSN for process 0x4bc Thread 0x94c DBC 0x2415064 Jet'.
/mytutorial/guestbook.asp, line 67

That is a very common error and most likely because the directory, that is housing the database does not have read access for the IUSR_Machinename account. Give this account read, write and modify permissions and it should work.

Hi thanks for your feed back.  I managed to get the guestbook tutorial to run.  I am all new to this ASP and coldfusion stuff although I have been doing html web sites for years I realise that I have to take it further then just plain ol HTML so I am at the very beginning of the learning curve and no doubt many sleepless nights ahead trying to get things to work.

Once again thanks for your help.

Guaranteed I will need you again in the not too distant futureWacko
