Hi all!

I always hate being a new guy on a forum, but you have to start somewhere right.

Anyway, I am trying to ad web wiz forums to my site which is primarily a frontpage based site that already has ASP pages.  (online datasearch)  I think I did everything right, but when I try to go to the forums default.asp file I get the following error.

Technical Information (for support personnel)

  • Error Type:
    Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
    [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.
    /statebarforum/forum/active_users.inc, line 172

  • Browser Type:
    Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1)

  • Page:
    GET /statebarforum/forum/Default.asp

Web wiz forum looks like it will be perfect for my needs, what a great job the programmer did!  If you get help me get mine working, I will be eternally gratefull.

Operation must use an updateable query.

This is a very common error. It means that the directory the database is in does not have write permissions.

You can find more info in the docs folder that came with the download.

And for a newb that was a good first post. You gave all the info needed to identify the problem and point you in the right direction.
