Assume I have a database file (database.mdb) with 10 tables in it.  It is better to have 1 DB file with 10 tables or 10 databases with 1 table?

I would think it's better to have 10 databases cause then you can have more connections avialable.

It the rule 10 concurrent connections per database (File) or 10 concurrent per table in a database file?

Having 10 databases would mean you had to load the jet engine overhead for 10 databases which would result in a higher memory consumption. Plus you could not setup any relationships between the tables... unless you have a well visited site (and you should move to mySQL or MSSQL anyway) you are fine with your 10 tables.

There's a concurrent connection limit for both the data base and the server. Opening 10 db's will probably get you a sarcastic email from the server admin.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

10 databases would be worse than a one 100MB Access DB.

IIS has a connection pool of about 20 for all Access databases on the server. This would mean that having 10 databases is worse than 1 in this instance as it would mean having to open 10 database connections instead of just 1. It would also be a big performance drain and you would see slower page processing times.
