i'm trying to change my forum database access to mysql.

after i build mysql database with mySQL_server_setup.asp at main forum page i got this error:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while executing SQL query on database.
Please check that the MySQL Server version is 4.1 or above.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_mySQL_get_birthdays
File Name:- default.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-4.0.18-nt]You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '(tblAuthor.DOB) = 27 ORDER BY tblAuthor.Author_ID DESC' at line

other some pages can open. for example search_form.asp and all of admin pages etc..

but i think this error occurs bacause of my hosts old mysql and odbc versions?

am i right?

and if i'm right than what can i do, can host update mysql and odbc drivers if i request. is it easy for them? or i have to change my host?

but at first, am i right about this error?

Yes. you don't have mysql 4.1 which is required by some of the wwf sql statements. Ask your host when they will be upgrading mysql to 4.1+. If their time frame is to far out for you, time to change hosts.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.
