Hi

I want to be able to manually grant access permission to my forum. i..e have a user request access not just register and be granted it. Is there a way to do this in V6 and if not would it be possible to have it in V7.

Well in v7 you could turn email activation off and make a member group with no access to any forums and call it "Unregistered" or something and make that the starting group.

Then all you got to do to activate them is put these people in the 'Newbie' group or whichever you want them to start in.

Yes I thought of that with V6 but it is not very elegant.

I also considered changing the e-mail notification so that I get the message (I already get a copy) rather than the new member and authorise them manually. I could then send a separate e-mail manually, but this is still a little cumbersome.

Ideally someone would register, I would get notification, I would then log on and activate membership, new member would then get e-mail.
