As administrators, we used to have the ability to approve new registrations, however this seems to have disappeared in our new forum upgrade? Can anyone tell me where this setting is? I can't find it in the new software. Regards

It works by sending an activation email to the forum admin instead of the new member.
The setting for this is on the Email Settings page and is called 'Administrator Member Activation'.

OK, I found it thank you!
Could you tell me.. is it true that in the old software, the new member showed up in Forum Statistics "The Newest Forum Member is..." prior to activation of the membership by admin, but now it doesn't show up until the account is activated?

If this change was made it was not in the last few years that I can recall.
You would need to look in the version history to see if this change was made.

I have located the SQL Query that gets the latest member.
The query filters non active members and suspended members and will therefore only show those members that are active and not suspended.

I checked with my colleague who looked after the new memberships. She confirmed that in the old software (which we ran prior to you upgrading our forum last week), the new member showed up in Forum Statistics "The Newest Forum Member is..." prior to activation of the membership by admin. This was actually bad because we had members registering crude names which would show up as the newest member until we got onto it and removed the new account. Sometimes my colleague registered a fake name just so the crude name was displaced from the forum front page.
The problem now is that my colleague who was an enormous help with new members now does not receive any notification or see them come up on the forum, and hence I must manage the new registrations, check their Username, IP address, etc. It would be nice if I could specify my colleague's email address for this option below. No worries, perhaps in a new release. Cheers.
Administrator Member ActivationNew members will not be able to use their account till the admin activates their membership. An activation email will be sent to the forum email address entered above.

Can you not give your colleague who looks after new members, admin rights, then she will get the advisory notes too? One assumes you trust her enough to do this.

The way the admin notification of new members works for the admin to activate new accounts is that the email is sent to the email address that you set in the admin area as the forums email address.
This is how it has always worked since the feature was introduced, but could do with looking at so that a different email or email addresses can be specified.
The only way you could get the email at present to send to multiple email addresses would be to change the forums email address set in the email settings in the admin area to a group mailbox that relays the email to multiple recipients.
