We are using Web Wiz Forums, Guestbook, Poll and some more applications that are using their own databases, like a picture gallery (all of them Access). The main and most frequented database is of course the WWF.
Does it make sense to add the smaller and much lesser frequented 5 databases (size from 100Kb to 2Mb) as new tables into the WWF main database (60+ Mb)? Would performance increase? What issues must I take into consideration before migrating the 6 databases into 1, any pros or contras?
Right now each page uses 3-5 different DSN-connections (I know that DSN-less is usually faster, but with our host it does not work very well) so using only one connection to the same database should be faster, at least I would assume so. Is that correct?
We are getting hosted on a shared Windows 2003 Server.
All further informations would be greatly appreciated.
