Topic: Access not showing relationships Posted: 07 December 2004 at 7:21pm |
Folks,
Access wont let me view any relationships in any databases ive got. Just get an error box saying "Unknown" and thats all. Cant create queries either - get the same error (Only after opening the 2nd table which is relational)
Tearing my hair out, please help.
Matt

IIRC, you have to have the table views closed before viewing relationships.
Also, if you're linking an Autonumber field in one table with a numeric field in another table, both fields must be the same size.

nope, all the ones that i know work (On other PCs) dont work on my main PC all of a sudden. Even the blank default WWF one.
Even DBs without relationships wont work, cant open the relationships window at all.

try re installing Access and see if that fixes it.
i had a smilar problem when m,aking a user based database, it kept asking for username/password when i had disabled it.
ended up re installing it.

Send it to someone else with access see if they have the same problem with it or if it's your software.

The relationships view has always been a pain. IIRC, there's a coupl of different option boxes for types of relationship views. You might try toggling them.
The only other thing might be if there's conflicting version of access - e.g. your program is Access 2000 and the db is Access 2003 - ore vice versa. You're supposed to be able to convert older versions of a db to a newer version supported by the Access program when you open the db but the conversion is not always total.
