Hi Folks,
I just figured I would post a new thread concerning the TDiH script for all those who were following it but aren't any more b/c it got too old. I finally got the URL working, it ended up my server had the directory "scripts" reserved for its own purposes so the new URL is:
http://www.dhq.nu/dmscripts/
Currently the script just selects events to be written to the page by comparing the current month/day and the month/day of each entry in the database.
I've designed a page to add events to the database however it isn't included in the zip yet...maybe tomorrow. :-P
Here's a few more things I wanna add soon (would appreciate your input on further features that should be added):
(1)Password protected administration.
(2)Ability to edit/delete events.
(3)Variables in a common file (e.g. common.inc or common.asp).
(4)Extensive manual.
(5)Various TDiH modules (e.g. Civil War, World War II, Film History, Christianity, etc.).
Of course if anyone is interested in helping help would always be appreciated. Probably modules will be the biggest task and I am currently working on a Civil War one for www.civilwarsearch.com (my site) which I hope then to offer to other Civil War sites.
Okay, thanks for listening...and one last thing - in case Borg reads this - I have to say lots of thanks. His scripts have served as a strong foundation for my site and I used the Guestbook tutorial in the process of making this TDiH script.
Respectfully,
David Mackey.

there's no need to start a new thread about the same subject. now everyone will have to switch back and forth between threads to see what you are even referring to...

Starting a new thread instead of using the existing one is a pain for those of us who have selected email notification of updates for the original thread.

That being said...

You may want to add a category column to the existing table. I did something similar for a prayer/wuote of the day app.

You may also want to allow users to sign-up for a daily/weekly email listing the events. If you add the content of a "what's new at my site" page to the end of the email, it adds a lot of stickiness.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

Faubo,
What's the link to your site? I'd like to keep links of anyone who uses the script.

All Others,
Okay, my bad...I'll try and stop using this thread. :-)
Respectfully,
David Mackey.

You could add a database compactor to your script.

The link to my terrible terrible domain (I didnt choose it... but I'm almost convincing my partners to change it) is:

http://www.conhecerparaconservar.org

But I wont have time to add your script soon, but I will add it.
