I'm looking to replace the webbbs at www.HandicappedPets.net and I think this form would be ideal.

I'm interested in finding out if this software meets some criteria we've set up:

Threaded listing for entire board
Although this is not threaded - it seems that when I hold my mouse over a topic, I can see the first few lines of text. Can I get these to show by default>

"Mark This Post Offensive"
    Is this available?

Move to correct category
   OK

Read all new messages (regardless of category)

Private Messaging
Search Engine Compatibility (SEO meta tags)
Easy to admin - Move, delete messages

Also, is there a conversion program from Webbbs?

Thanks,
Mark Robinson

they show by default if the user has javascript enabled on their browser

"Mark This Post Offensive"
    Is this available?
there's a "Report This Post" button
Move to correct category
   OK

Read all new messages (regardless of category)
Click on "Active Topics" to list posts since your last visit
Private Messaging
yes
Search Engine Compatibility (SEO meta tags)
You can put any meta tags you want into the default page framework although most search engines have deprecated mata tags in favor of scanning the actual content of a page as meta tags have been abused a lot. You may also be penalized if your content doesn't line up with your meta tags. Better to just rely on content.
Easy to admin - Move, delete messages
yes

never seen one.

Thank you! I'm becoming confident that this is the right replacement.

My Question about the first few lines was whether I could get the first line of the message to show up under each message, rather than having to pass my mouse over to see them.

Should't be too hard if you know a little asp as the data is available when the page is created. Some people have done stuff along this line when displaying "most recent forum posts" on their home pages. IIRC, the forum itself displays in the javascript, the first xxx characters from the first post in a thread rather than from the latest post in a thread.

You'd need to be aware that sometimes the first line is not just text. Sometimes it's a quote (except for the first post), or code, or an image. Stuff that's not plain text could screw up the formatting of your page. The first line of code or a quotes could be just the tags.

There is a strong community based around this forum software and all ideas etc are always thouraghly looked upon.

Webwiz can be very easily built and modified to behave how you want and is extremley secure.

I've been using it for about five years and nothing has ever come anywhere close to the quality.
Handyman man?
