I think navigation is important as some sites don’t seam to get to the point. If you are looking for drivers sometimes you have to be like inspector clueso to find them. Controls, Links and the constant location of them is important if you move them around on each page you will upset the visitor. I also feal the more you have to click away from the main page (4xpages or more) this can add to the frustration as well. One more thing I am finding hard to keep up with is checking all links work. Move only one page and that can mean a long time changing all links and you will miss one. Dreamwever helps but don’t work to well when you have to input your link as a URL.

Are we complaining about microsoft.com or msdn.microsoft.com? And the complete inability of anyone to every find anything there?

I always have to go to google or msn.com to search for something on the microsoft site.

For me, I always think about Web Design & Development as akin to what is involved in opening a store (ie, Borders, Target, Best Buy, etc). Here's a simple breakdown of what I consider important...

Web Site --- vs --- Store/Business
1. Content -------- 1. Products (what is being sold?)
2. Navigation ------ 2. Store Arrangement (what goes where?)
3. Coding --------- 3. Architecture/Building Structure
4. Design --------- 4. Interior/Exterior Design
5. Search --------- 5. Marketing/Promotion
