I am setting up a standard L2TP IPsec VPN. However I get this error message:

Error 789: The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during inital negotiations with the remote computer

Does anyone know how to fix it?

Ok I have worked out how to use it. What ports does it use and does it have any advantages over PPTP or is it more secure?

IPSec is more secure than PPTP as long as you set it up right...

NOTE: And in case you're thinking, "What if that company had firewalls at every location--would IPSec work through a firewall?" The answer is yes. You must open UDP port 500 and permit protocols nuber 50 and 51.
