    Posted: 19 June 2012 at 12:32pm
Have some problems with the StopForumSpam function.
When I register a user with a known usernamne of a spammer I don't get any message like "You are not permitted to register" or anything like it, I only get a
Error 500 Internal server error.
There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.
The URL points to: http://blablabla.xx/forum/register.asp?FID=0
The function partly works, no user is registerd but no message appears to the user and no StopForumSpam Statics appear in admin section.
Don't know where to start looking... any tips are welcome.

Running on Server 2008, IIS7
Edition: Free Express Edition
Running Version: 10.11
Database Backend: Access

You need to enable detailed error messages for your website in IIS so that get a full error message which will point to what the error is and on what line.

You need the detailed error message. This will include the VbScript error message along with the line number that the error occurred on.

As well as enabling detailed error messages for the website you would need to edit the ASP settings so that you have error messages sent to the browser.

Thank you so much... I'm a noob at this when it goes under the hood... but this is what I get now:

SWE:
Körningsfel i Microsoft VBScript
 fel '800a01f4'
Odefinierad variabel: 'strIPAddr'
/forum/register.asp, rad 929

ENG:
Runerror in MS VBScript eror '800a01f4'
undefined variable: 'strIPAddr'
/forum/register.asp, row 929

what to do about this?

Thank-you this information has allowed me to locate the issue of your problem.

It would appear that the line causing the issue relates to logging the action in the forums log files. For the moment you should disable the logging of new registrations while a fix is found for the next release.
