    Posted: 13 May 2004 at 3:54pm

I've been working away for months with ASP on IIS and now it has suddenly stopped running scripts.  I get this message:

HTTP 403.9 - Access Forbidden: Too many users are connected
Internet Information Services

Trouble is, there's only me!  So it can't be too many users.

This is what Microsoft say:

RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, have the administrator change the connection limit settings for the Web site.

Open Internet Services Manager.
Right-click the Web site and choose Properties.
On the Web Site property page, select Connections.
Choose Unlimited or increase the Limited To: value.

...BUT ... there is no option called Connections in the property section.

I am at my wits end here!  Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Thank You,

Dotty

bear with me....

That error is usually a result of dodgy coding (no offence)... It may not be what you wrote, maybe some application you are running? Things like not setting Components to Nothing after use and not closing connections can cause that problem.

try restarting IIS or windows and see how it goes..
the reason why you don't find the option on how to change thr number of connections is that you are probably running IIS 5.0/5.1 on Windows 2000 Pro/XP pro..

Problem solved!  Thanks to you Mart - on another thread I found.  For anybody else experiencing the same problem, it was Norton Antivirus' script blocking.

it seems that all the script blocking does is inconvenience developers
